Installation, storage and care
Standard PPF guidelines, valid for Gloss, Matte and Matte Black.
| Stage | Topic | Standard recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Installation | Method | Wet: slip solution to position the film and tack solution on the edges |
| Installation | Solutions | Slip: water with a few drops of neutral shampoo. Tack: water with 20–30% isopropyl alcohol |
| Installation | Room temperature | 15–30 °C (59–86 °F), indoors, away from direct sun, wind and dust |
| Installation | Paint preparation | Wash, decontaminate (clay bar) and remove wax and silicone. Correct defects first: PPF does not hide deep scratches |
| Installation | Adhesive cure | 48–72 h initial cure and up to 7 days for a full cure. Small water bubbles disappear in this period |
| Storage | Temperature and humidity | Dry, ventilated place at 10–30 °C (50–86 °F) and 40–60% humidity, away from sun and heat sources |
| Storage | Roll position | In the original box, lying flat or hung by the tube. Never standing on its edge or with weight on top |
| After installation | First wash | Wait at least 72 h after installation |
| After installation | Washing | By hand, in the shade and with cool body panels, using neutral car shampoo |
| After installation | Pressure washer | Keep at least 60 cm (2 ft) away and never aim the jet at the film edges |
| After installation | Products to avoid | Abrasive compounds, cutting polishes, solvents (thinner, acetone), petroleum-based products and brush car washes |
| Removal | How to remove | By a professional: warm with steam or a heat gun on moderate heat and pull slowly at a low angle (under 45°) so the adhesive comes off with the film |
Care by finish
| Care | Gloss | Matte | Matte Black |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wax and polish | Non-abrasive wax, if you like | Never: creates glossy spots | Never: creates glossy spots |
| Sealant or ceramic coating | Ceramic coating or sealant made for PPF | Only products for matte finishes | Only products for matte finishes |
